    Margaret W. (Peggy) Crosson HFI Executive Director

    Margaret ( Peggy) Crosson received her B.A. degree from Mary Baldwin College and her M.A.degree from Hollins University. A native of Roanoke, Virginia she has been a resident of Fincastle for the past 15 years.

    Ms. Crosson has served as the Executive Director for the HFI organization since April, 2004. Prior to her position with Historic Fincastle, Inc., Ms. Crosson worked 26 years for Carilion Health System. For the last three years of her employment there, she served as Carilion Medical Center Director for Patient Relations/ Volunteers and Patient Services.

    Major accomplishments during her employment at Carilion include:

    , Reorganized the Department of Volunteers and Patient Services to position it as a vital and integral business component of patient and family care. , Designed and implemented a joint project with the Junior League of the Roanoke Valley to build and operate the first Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Virginia. , Implemented one of the first Patient Representative Programs in Virginia hospitals and the first hospital-based Hospice volunteer program in the Roanoke Valley.

    Corporate Volunteer Contribution: As a representative of Carilion Health System, Ms. Crosson chaired a New Century Region committee on workforce development for 10 years. The "TechForce" Committee is a 35 member volunteer committee with representatives from the business/technology industry, education and government. A major accomplishment was the implementation of the Internship Initiative.

    Prior to this, Ms. Crosson led a 25-member team of business, education, and government leaders in the design of a statewide workforce development model for the Commonwealth of Virginia (1996) and participated in a revised statewide model initiative in 2002. Because of her interest and activity in Workforce Development, she spent four months in Richmond during the General Assembly session as a possible candidate for the Statewide Workforce Development Coordinator's position.

    In 2003, Ms. Crosson sought political office as a member of the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors, Fincastle District, but lost by 81 votes.
