"It gives us another permanent exhibition hall and shows how we are moving forward to develop a permanent showground," said society general manager Malcolm Crossman.
"Having to cancel because of foot-and-mouth in 2001 knocked us back badly but the debts have been paid off and we are making a profit.
"The society's aim was to put £150m in the bank ready for a rainy day and that is in place, so from now on we can spend our profits and knock down some of the old buildings here and put up some new ones."
Mr Crossman said the absence of cattle, sheep, pigs and goats would be a sad loss, but he said the show organisers were determined to provide an entertaining event.
