Crossen, who works out of her River Road home, was paid a $5,000 retainer the first month and has been paid $10,000 a month since.This year, VCU exercised the second of four one-year options to renew the contract, but told Crossen it would reduce her monthly retainer to $5,500 and expenses to $500 on May 1 because of the state's budget crisis.
Crossen also has a business relationship with Ward TV, which paid her firm about $200,000 to handle the initial marketing and public relations for the program, according to Ward.
