    I think it would be a show of good faith by them to prove that they care about the environment, as Mr. Hunt stated they did, to sell the land to the National Trust at a reduced price as Mr. Kevin Cross, President of WhiteCross Development did with the land in Southampton (absolutely amazing for a developer and applauded).

    Kevin Cross, of WhiteCross Developments, said he had received professional advice that he was within his rights to cut the access road from the Hamptons housing development through to Lighthouse Road, because he followed the route of a decades-old overgrown track.But after neighbour Ronda Pires heard about it and voiced her concern to the developer via another neighbour, Mr. Cross said he would now lodge an application with the Planning Department - even though the job was "98 per cent done".Ms Pires said Mr. Cross' action was typical of developers who increasingly disregarded conservation rules, sought retroactive planning permission after completing the work and then got "a slap on the wrist".

    Kevin Cross, president of development company WhiteCross Developments was given permission to build four detached homes and eight town houses at 62 St. Anne's Road by the Development Applications Board.Mr. Cross originally wanted to build 40 homes, but the number was reduced thanks to pressure from local residents.
