Gary Cross

Gary Cross began his local family business in 2000, but industrial experience dating from 1976 is the rock-solid foundation of this family's business.Cross Sewing Machine Repair and Sales has grown by leaps and bounds over the past five years and excellent service is the reason why.

Gary's wife, Donna, is both the accountant and advertising coordinator.

"At first, Gary worked out of the house.First the patio, the deck and then the living room became storage for equipment and machines," Donna says."I finally told him, ‘Enough!' I want my home back."

Today, Gary works out of his own home-based shop, but his career has deep roots in the garment industry.Gary began his work as a sewing machine mechanic after military service in Vietnam.He worked at a plant called, "Movie Star," in Mississippi.It was Gary's job to keep the sewing machines of 280 seamstresses working well and producing lingerie sold to companies like Sears and JCPenney.Within three years he became head mechanic and moved on to Pioneer Systems, a company with 580 seamstresses that produced parachutes and backpacks.

Gary wanted to return to Oregon where he was raised.He was offered a job as head mechanic for Roseburg-based Werner Works, a producer of gear and clothing for police and fire departments worldwide.In time, he put this experience to work for his own customers.

Gary offers friendly and trustworthy repairs for customers in Roseburg and surrounding cities.Customers can use convenient drop-off points in local businesses and home repair is also an option.
