Nicola Crichton is a Reader in Medical Statistics in the Institute of Primary Care and Public Health, joining the Institute in 2005 from the RCN Development Centre.She has over twenty years of experience of working with a range of health professionals on research projects including, for example, diagnostic processes in A&E, sex education in schools, treatment of pain and barriers to research utilisation.She has extensive experience teaching research methodology, methods, statistical analysis and epidemiology and has several publications presenting statistical ideas to health care researchers, particularly nurses.Her current work in the Institute focuses around studies of the effect life style and the impact of changing life style on health.Her other research interests include statistical issues such at inter-rater agreement analysis, statistical decision-making, evidence based practice, clinical trials, and evaluation of the quality (especially statistical quality) of health care publications.
She is Chair of the Faculty Ethics Committee and is Chair of the Editorial Board for the Institute of Primary Care and Public Health Publication Series.She is involved in the supervision of several PhD students
