Marvin CraigPhD Service Technician
Marvin is the quietest of our service technicians, but if you know us well enough, you know that's not saying much. You get him going on Genuine Harley-DavidsonĀ® parts and accessories, and it's hard to shut him up.That's because Marvin spent the formative years of his career working in aftermarket service and chopper shops.
"It's not like what you see on TV," says Marvin, referring to the scads of chopper shows on cable.
...
And Marvin should know. He's been a recognized H-D service technician at Spirit for almost 7 years so he can make an honest assessment. The aftermarket business offers nothing like the Harley PhD training he is required to complete every time Harley-Davison comes out with a new model, a new system or a new component.
"In the Harley PhD program I've undergone training in everything from springer front ends to SportsterĀ® and V-RodĀ® drive trains to Twin Cam engines - pretty much anything and everything you can imagine.Every time something new comes out, we're required to go through the PhD review and test.We know our stuff, let me tell you."
If Marvin had to rate the experience and skill of his co-workers, he would give everyone a 10 out of 10.And he says that without missing a beat.In his own case, he is driven by a desire to give each customer 100% - as well as a competitive spirit that constantly has him putting his work up against not only his colleagues but also his brother, who works as a motorcycle service technician for the Pittsburgh Police Department."I guess you could say quality service runs in the family," says Marvin."My family and the Spirit Harley family."
