    Eric Cox, an organ recovery placement coordinator at the Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network, has been appointed as the Region 9 representative to the Minority Affairs Committee of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network/ United Network for Organ Sharing.

    The Minority Affairs Committee identifies issues that impact organ procurement, allocation, and transplantation of minorities.Region 9 represents New York state and western Vermont.During his two year tenure, Cox will work with the committeeto help provide input and recommendations to the UNOS Board of Directors to ensure that issues and special needs of the minority population are met.

    Members of the committee include transplant physicians, organ procurement representatives and the general public.Appointments to the committee are made by the United Network for Organ Sharing and approved by the Board of Directors.

    Prior to joining the Finger Lakes Network in 2000, Cox worked in the anesthesia department at the University of Rochester Medical Center as a night-shift supervisor.He also served in the Army; rank E5, before coming to the University of Rochester.Cox is currently completing a degree in health administration.
