Mr. Alan Cousins

Speaking at the launch of the new model, Volvo South Africa chief executive Alan Cousins said in the next year three additions would join the South African line-up - they are the C70, S80 and the C30.

"We're very excited about this sponsorship, which extends the Volvo tradition of supporting sailing to a new dimension," says Alan Cousins, Managing Director, Volvo Car Ireland, adding, "Additionally, the expedition plans to bring Irish music and culture to the local people who live in this harsh environment as well as recording the fragile eco-systems of these wonderful lands."

He added, "There are also some very strong parallels with Volvo's never-ending drive for safety, which, of course is the ultimate priority, and travelling under sail power, we are using the natural resources of the planet."

Volvo Car South Africa would like to announce that Alan Cousins, currently managing director of Volvo Cars Ireland, will replace Jacques Brent as managing director of Volvo Car SA from 1 August 2005.

21 August 2003: Response to the arrival of the S60R Volvo in Ireland has been 'right on target' according to Alan Cousins, MD of Volvo Ireland. But he said it is a specialist car and will only sell 10-12 units in a year.

It is the version which will be most important for the Irish market, Alan Cousins, MD of Volvo Ireland, said yesterday at the European launch of the car in Switzerland. But of the 75 which are allocated to Ireland for 2003, 68 orders have already been taken.
