   Veronica Cortese, former head volleyball coach at Bethany University, announced this week that she has accepted the position of head girls volleyball coach at Monte Vista Christian School.
   
   "My goal is to build a solid foundation for the teams this year," she said, "developing their technique and preparing them to play at the collegiate level if they choose to go on."
   
   MVC has gone 30-6 since entering the Monterey Bay League in 2002. The Mustangs won three consecutive league titles from 2002-04. They finished third last year at 5-5.

   Cortese, who graduated from Bethany in 2005, played three years of collegiate volleyball, and was named CalPac Setter of the Year in 2001. She served as Bethany's assistant volleyball coach from 2002-2005, and as head coach from 2005-2006.
