Amy introduces the ancient practice of Shamanism from a cross-cultural point of view. A basic premise of Shamanism is a concern for the condition of the soul, of a person, place, family, and community. Amy will discuss shamanism as a method of healing, restoring the soul, and as a means to a deeper relationship with all of life. In shamanism, there is no hierarchy of power. The ordinary person becomes her/his own authority on spiritual matters to strengthen their own relationship to daily life.

Amy Cortese, M.S., C.S.C., is an experienced shamanic practitioner, having practiced shamanism for over 25 years. Amy resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico where she has a private practice devoted to the practical use of shamanism in individual and community processes. She is a faculty member of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, the River Wind Foundation, The Graduate School of Social Work, University of Utah, and teaches throughout the Intermountain West. Amy combines her knowledge and experience in Health, Counseling and Social Change in bringing shamanism into practice in daily life for ourselves, our loved ones and in community. Amy guides people in finding their authority and in restoring their relationship to the soul, faith and compassion.

I recently attended a Foundation for Shamanic Studies workshop in Salt Lake City, which was taught by Amy Cortese. It was a life changing workshop for me. Much of it was because of Amy's grace, compassion, ethics, and heart in her teaching and persona. I recommend anyone who gets a chance to attend a Foundation Workshop to find one taught by Amy Cortese.
