   Helen Cortes was appointed Assistant Zen Teacher by Ruben Habito in 2006.
   ...
   Helen works as Executive Director of the Maria Kannon Zen Center and is part of the editorial staff of the Zen Journal. She has been practicing Zen since 1992. She has a degree in Psychology and finished her masters in Industrial Relations from the University of the Philippines. She has been involved in infrastructure programs and has worked with the poor farmers of the Philippines. She has taught in a Benedictine School in Manila and presently, she's an oblate of the Osage Monastery in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
