   Schering-Plough Appoints Eduardo Cortes General Manager, Argentina
   
   KENILWORTH, N.J., Oct. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Schering-Plough Corporation (NYSE: SGP) today announced the appointment of Eduardo Cortes as general manager, Schering-Plough Argentina. He will report to Pierre Verstraete, group vice president and president of the company's Latin American Region.
   
   Cortes brings extensive experience in Latin American pharmaceutical operations to his new role. He most recently has served as commercial director of the company's Scheramex Division in Mexico where he was responsible for anti-infective and anti-allergy franchises. Prior to his Mexico assignment, Cortes held positions with Abbott Laboratories such as general manager in Chile and director of pharmaceutical operations in Argentina and Puerto Rico. Earlier in his career, Cortes was a division manager for the Oncology/Biotech Division with Schering-Plough Puerto Rico.
   
   Cortes holds three master's degrees in marketing, finance and human resources and a Juris Doctor degree from the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in humanities from St. Alphonsus College of Connecticut.
