   Jennifer Cortes Poirier was born in Miami Beach, Florida. She obtained her B. A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997, and then obtained her J.D. from Tulane University School of Law in 2000. She is admitted to practice law in Louisiana and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana. She is a member of the American Bar Association, and Federal Bar Association.
   
   Ms. Poirier began the practice of law in a large firm in Metairie, Louisiana where she gained a great deal of trial experience. She then served as house counsel for St. Paul's/Traveler's Insurance Groups before coming to the firm; there, she focused her practice on defense of worker's compensation cases. She currently focuses on the defense of major corporations such as Family Dollar Stores, AIG, and St. Paul's/Traveler's in the areas of premises liability, automobile litigation, and worker's compensation.
   
   Ms. Poirier is fluent in Spanish. She resides in Mandeville, Louisiana with her husband, who is also an attorney, and her two daughters.

In New Orleans, she has even represented local musicians in matters of Copyright and Trademark infringement. Prior to joining Blue Williams, Jennifer worked for a New Orleans Defense firm, where her practice primarily involved Maritime Law.
   
   Since joining Blue Williams, Ms. Cortes has expanded her areas of practice, with a primary focus upon State Workers' Compensation, LHWCA, and General Insurance Defense. She is fluent in both Spanish and French, and is an active member of local International Associations such as the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
