   There are not very many Europeans who have been made honourary chiefs of an African community. In fact, it sounds like a fanciful tale from the journal of a long ago explorer.
   
   But it happens to be true, and one of the proudest events in the peripatetic life of Rien Corstanje, geologist, hydrologist and data management expert.
   
   Born in Zeeland in the southwest Netherlands, "a bunch of islands which have always been fighting the sea", young Rien may have caught his wanderlust from stories of Holland's prowess in the Age of Exploration.

   Only two months into this assignment, Rien broke his leg, and was airlifted back to a Dutch hospital; there, fortune smiled on him again, and he met his future wife, a Malaysian national also working in the oil industry. When fit again, and after completing his work in Yemen, geology jobs were scarce.

   And thus, Rien Corstanje became a Nigerian chief.
   
   New Beginnings
   
   After two more years in Nigeria, leading a data storage project with Schlumberger GeoQuest, Rien headed east to Malaysia, where his wife had already found a new post. There, an old university friend told him about Cambrian, and not long after, Rien met Technical Director, John Roberts and David Bowling, who heads up the Kuala Lumpur office.

   Rien not only went on to become a key member of Cambrian's S.E. Asia team, but also provided expert insights into end of well reporting and graphical capabilities that helped to shape Cambrian's approach to INTOTOÔ .
