Stage director Frank Corsaro has served on the Juilliard faculty since 1987. He has been associated since 1957 with New York City Opera, where his productions include Janácek's The Makropoulos Case and The Cunning Little Vixen and Purcell's Dido and Aeneas (in collaboration with George Balanchine and Peter Martins). He directed Puccini's The Girl of the Golden West for Deutsche Oper Berlin; Prokofiev's Love for Three Oranges, a double bill of operas by Oliver Knussen (designed by Maurice Sendak); and Ravel's L'heure espagnole. He directed Handel's Rinaldo, the first production of which originated at Houston Grand Opera, for the Metropolitan Opera. Houston also saw the premiere of The Magic Flute with Sendak's designs. Corsaro and Sendak's most recent collaboration, Hansel and Gretel, premiered at Juilliard and was subsequently produced in Houston, Toronto and Zurich.

Corsaro is Artistic Director of the Juilliard Opera Center where his productions include Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea, Poulenc's La voix humaine and Les mamelles de Tirésias, and Falstaff. Corsaro was also the artistic director of the Actor's Studio (1977-85) in New York City. -
