"We've played better," Toll Gate head coach Ashley Corsa surmised bluntly.
    ...
"Brooke's good at switching fields," Corsa assessed, "and she runs like a deer. She was playing defense down at our end, too," she added of Soscia's work at both ends of the field.
    ...
"We needed to turn that effort on from the beginning of the game," Corsa said.
    ...
"We're trying to take everything one thing at a time," Corsa said of her team's steady improvement.

Toll Gate head coach Ashley Corsa was patrolling the sidelines with frustration, seeing her girls not reacting to plays with the efficiency that she was hoping for. Before the match yesterday, Corsa switched up the lineup, putting Alex King, the team's normal defender to the forward positon to try and jumpstart an offense that has averaged one goal per game on the season.
    ...
"She has a strong shot on goal," said Corsa."We tried to work that in.But, overall, we have a young team and they're trying to learn their roles on the field."Corsa also said that the team hopes it will be better off, experience-wise in knowing what the best of the best looks like on the field."The girls are picking up on certain things," she said.

While her team allowed the same amount of goals to Warwick Vets that they allowed in the teams' last meeting - a 3-1 Titan loss - Toll Gate (3-7-1) coach Ashley Corsa was happy with the way her team played."It was pretty evenly balanced as opposed to the first game, which was pretty one-sided," said Corsa.
    ...
"Usually when it's a regular 11 on 11, we like to have shorter passes, but in overtime I want the girls to make longer passes and make the other team run because we are well conditioned," said Corsa of her strategy in overtime.Unfortunately for Corsa and the Titans, it was the Hurricanes who stretched out the field and that led to the game-winning goal by Padden with just four minutes left in the match, clinching a playoff spot for the Hurricanes.
    ...
At this point, Corsa would be happy if her team is lucky enough to face Moses Brown in the playoffs because her team needs to somehow take points off of Wheeler, Classical, Rocky Hill, St. Mary's Bay View and Cranston East to make the playoffs.
    ...
"We are at seven points right now and we need 13, and we need to get three wins or two wins and two ties," said Corsa.

"We didn't have one of our best games," head coach Ashley Corsa said.

And the stats bear that out.Toll Gate had eight penalty corners but managed just three shots on goal.

"I can attribute some of that to the young players, and some of it to nerves," Corsa said."I don't know.We just weren't as aggressive as we could have been."

The Titans were plenty aggressive in Thursday's game. They dominated offensively, keeping the ball in their offensive zone for much of the match. But even then, Corsa lamented the fact that her team didn't get enough shots.

"The trouble for us is we don't take enough shots when we're in the circle," she said after Thursday's game.
    ...
Corsa also attributed some of the struggles to the absence of center midfielder Lauren Egan, who aggravated an old ankle injury in Thursday's game.
    ...
"We were definitely struggling without Egan," Corsa said.
    ...
Corsa knew on Thursday that missing Egan might be a problem.
    ...
"I think the teams are pretty evenly matched," Corsa said."It could have gone either way yesterday too.It was one of those games. The same thing happened today, and it was Bayview that came out on top."

Toll Gate finishes the season with a 5-7-2 record.Despite falling short of postseason play, Corsa was pleased.

"It was a great season," she said.

"I liked the fact that our midfielders were talking more and getting back on defense, not just working on scoring goals," Toll Gate coach Ashley Corsa said.
    ...
"It was a big improvement from the first time that we played [Pilgrim]," Corsa said.
    ...
Corsa was also impressed with the improvements that she has seen her squad make so far this season.Toll Gate has benefited from great leadership form its large senior class and Corsa credits her seniors for the team's success.

"This season we have 12 seniors and five captains on the team: Pam Ardizzone, Meg McGinley, Lauren Egan, Danielle Hogan and Amanda Richardson," Corsa said.

Even as they fell behind by as many as 21 points, the Titans continued to fight for possession and play for the win, which pleased acting head coach Ashley Corsa.

"At the half, they looked hopeful, but we're a first-half team," said Corsa, who is stepping in for head coach Joe Paliotta while he recovers from eye surgery."(But) the whole bench contributed. In the second half, they were down, but they came out wanting to win.The attitude was all there."

    ...
"We had some big communication problems with the midfielders," said Corsa.
    ...
