Laura Corrunker is a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Anthropology and Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies at Wayne State University. Laura is pursuing her Ph.D. in Anthropology with a dual concentration in Cultural and Business and Organizational Anthropology. She received her Masters in Interdisciplinary Studies (M.I.S.) at WSU, and her B.S. in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Eastern Michigan University, graduating Magna cum Laude. One of the papers she wrote during her undergraduate education, entitled "Alcohol Recovery," was published in Henry and Eaton (Eds.), Degrees of Deviance. For the past six years Laura has taught courses in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, and for two of those years was a lecturer in the department. The primary course she taught during this time, entitled "Computers and Society," sparked her interest in the relationship between technology and culture. Currently, she is researching the global processes affecting indigenous cultures, and indigenous rights movements in Latin America. Specifically, her focus is on the use of computer technology in indigenous communities in Mexico, as well as the impact of international policies on these communities.
