Nancy Corrion Steps Up To Lead Michigan Horsemen
...
Nancy Corrion, who joined the Michigan Harness Horsemens Association (MHHA) as a bookkeeper in 1988, will serve as their new general manager on the retirement of Larry Mallar in April.
Corrion has risen through the ranks, moving up to office manager, then assistant general manager and now the top position as general manager. Corrion had attended the races as a fan before she joined the MHHA, but is now thoroughly enmeshed in the sport and has owned and bred Standardbreds as well.
Corrion takes the job at a time when Michigan is regrouping after a loss at the polls in November 2004 that imposed requirements of state and local approval for slot machine operations at any location other than three casinos in Detroit and tribal lands.
"Having read over 150 member surveys and recently completing two focus groups, I believe improving communications with our members must be a priority," says Corrion.
