   Before launching her consulting practice, Karen served as vice president of corporate strategy for Sentara Healthcare (Norfolk, Virginia), recognized as one of the top integrated delivery systems in the United States.She has also worked with Riverside Health System and Winchester Medical Center, both in Virginia.She is a graduate of the school of business and economics at Virginia Wesleyan College and a Kaiser Institute Fellow.Karen served on the board of the American Marketing Association, as board chair for the Alliance for Healthcare Strategy and Marketing and president of the Virginia Society for Healthcare Strategy and Marketing.She is a member of ACHE and Forum for Healthcare Strategists.
   
   A frequent lecturer and author, Karen was the 1999 recipient of the Alliance for Healthcare Strategy and Marketing's Frank J. Weaver Leadership Award which recognizes contribution to the healthcare industry in furthering the understanding and application of strategic marketing principles.
