   Bernardo Fashions has appointed Paula Correri as national sales manager for sportswear and Analise Hellman as head sportswear designer, announced company president Stuart Pollack.

   As national sales manager, Correri will spearhead the sportswear launch, and oversee all operations for the new division. A 20-year apparel industry veteran with a strong background in casual sportswear, she comes to Bernardo from the Doneger Group where she was a market specialist for casual sportswear. Prior to that, she worked at Frederick Atkins as corporate divisional merchandiser for Dillard's, and held buyer posts at Belk Store Services and Mercantile Stores. In her new position, Correri reports directly to Bernardo president Pollack.

   New York based apparel company Bernardo Fashions named Paula Correri as national sales manager for its new sportswear division and Analise Hellman as head sportswear designer.
   
   The New York-based company, known for its machine-washable designs in suede, faux shearling,wool and cashmere, said it decided to set up the new unit as sports apparel sales now account for more than a quarter of its total sales.
   
   Correri was most recently a market specialist for casual sportswear firm Doneger Group, it said in a statement, while Hellman joins from May Merchandising Co, where she was sportswear designer.
