   (Newark, NJ - June 17, 2003) - Dr. Joaquim Correia, Physician Director for Critical Care and the Telemetry Units at Saint James Hospital, Newark, has been named to New York Magazine's "Best Doctors of 2003."The list includes physicians from New York , New Jersey , Connecticut , Long Island and Westchester .    Dr. Correia, who also has clinical responsibility for the care in the Critical Care and Telemetry Units, and is Physician Charge of the Non-Invasive Cardiology Reading Panel at Saint James Hospital , is a graduate of Harvard College with a B.A. in Biology and earned his M.D. at New York University School of Medicine.He served an internship in Internal Medicine at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center , New York , and a residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowships in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacemakers at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center .
   
   He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Cardiac Electrophysiology, and is a member of the New Jersey and Essex County Medical Societies and the American Medical Association.Born in Portugal , Dr. Correia grew up in the Ironbound Section of Newark, and is a graduate of East Side High School , where he was class valedictorian , and an All-State Soccer player, vice president of the Student Council, and a member of the Honor Society.He is now a resident of Cranford . He maintains a practice in Cardiology in the Ironbound.
