   Silvia M. Correa is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Childhood Education, Reading, and Disability Services in the College of Education at Florida State University. She earned her Ed.D. in Special Education at the University of Northern Colorado in 2004. Dr. Correa is a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist and a teacher of individuals with visual disabilities. She earned her undergraduate degree in Special Education: Visual Impairments, at the University of Puerto Rico and her master,s degree in Orientation and Mobility (O&M) at Northern Illinois University. Prior to joining FSU, Dr. Correa worked as a teacher of children with visual impairment, O&M instructor, adjunct faculty at the University of Northern Colorado, and grant coordinator for the National Center on Low-Incidence Disabilities. She has taught in different cultures in a variety of settings. Her interests include current issues in O&M, communication issues for individuals with deafblindness, diversity and visual impairment, and personnel preparation.
