W. Philip Corr , MACP
W. Philip Corr , MACP , a leader in Southern California medicine and former ACP Governor and Vice President , died Jan. 15. He was 97.
Dr. Corr served in the Army Medical Corps in World War II , commanded three general hospitals and was made a colonel. He received the Legion of Merit in 1946.
After the war , Dr. Corr returned to his practice in Riverside , Calif. , which ultimately expanded to become the Riverside Medical Clinic. For more than 40 years , he taught medical students at Loma Linda School of Medicine.
Besides serving as ACP's Governor for Southern California from 1967-70 and as ACP Vice President from 1970-71 , Dr. Corr was actively involved with a number of other organizations , including the California Society of Internal Medicine , the Los Angeles Academy of Medicine and the Inland Society of Internal Medicine. -
