PRACTICE SUMMARY
Marcelo N. Corpuz, III practices health and hospital law, with a special emphasis on corporate and transactional work.Mr. Corpuz has extensive experience in representing for-profit and not-for-profit entities, and he has represented physicians, nursing homes, HMOs, hospitals, and other health care providers and organizations in a wide variety of transactional and general corporate matters.In his practice, Mr. Corpuz has successfully assisted clients throughout the country with multi-million dollar asset sales, the formation of privately held health care facilities such as ambulatory surgical centers, and the merger and acquisition of various healthcare-related entities.Mr. Corpuz also counsels clients regarding compliance with the Stark Act, the Medicare Fraud and Abuse laws, and state health care laws.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Mr. Corpuz is a member of the American and Chicago Bar Associations, the Asian American Bar Association of Greater Chicago, and the American Health Law Association.Mr. Corpuz is also a Planning Board Member of the American Bar Association's Health Law Committee (Young Lawyers Division).In 1998, Mr. Corpuz was selected to appear in the Tenth Edition of who be Who in American Law.
Mr. Corpuz has lectured on healthcare matters at the Annual Meeting of the American Bar Association, and he is an adjunct professor of healthcare law at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago-Kent College of Law.In addition, he is the co-author of a book on ambulatory surgery centers which will be published by the American Health Lawyers Association in the latter part of 1999.Mr. Corpuz is also an editorial board member of the ABA's Health Lawyer publication.
EDUCATION AND BAR ADMISSIONS
Mr. Corpuz graduated from Georgetown University with a bachelor's degree in theology in 1990.In 1995, he concurrently received his law degree and master's in public health from George Washington University, where he was a member of the George Washington Law Review.Mr. Corpuz is admitted to practice law in Illinois, Ohio and the District of Columbia.
