   Discussions with Simon Cornwell, WA Project Manager - Community Banking for Bendigo Bank highlighted the situation that the majority of non-metropolitan towns in Western Australia who have, or are in process of setting up, community banks are without full banking services.An example of a town with banking services is Collie.The Shire of Collie supports the concept of the community bank, and the CEO and two Councillors are members of the board, but no financial support is provided by the Shire.Collie has three other banks and two credit unions represented in the town.Mr Cornwell also stated that experience has shown that towns with other banking services find that their Councils are "hesitant to side with community banks" over other banking services, despite fully supporting the concept of a community bank.
