John M. Cornish, partner, is co-chair of Choate's Wealth Management Practice Group.Mr. Cornish's practice concentrates on the provision of general legal, business and tax advice to individuals, trusts, estates, and an array of business entities, both privately-owned and publicly-held.He has extensive experience in the areas of estate planning, income tax planning, and representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service, business planning, general corporate, structuring acquisitions and divestitures, and transferring and licensing technology and other intellectual property rights.He is the managing trustee of numerous family trusts and charitable foundations with total assets in excess of $500 million.
Mr. Cornish represents a number of investment advisory firms, providing advice on tax and other related matters.In addition, he has considerable experience representing local banking institutions on tax-exempt organization issues.Mr. Cornish is active in his community, serving as a Trustee of Wediko Children's Services and a Director of the Emerald Necklace Conservancy.He was the General Chairman of the 1999 Ryder Cup Matches at The Country Club, Brookline, Massachusetts.

Mr. Cornish is a member of the Boston Bar Association.He has also served as a member of Choate's Firm Committee and Practice Management Committee.
