73-year-old remembered for supporting business endeavors in community.

CROWN POINT -- Family and friends gathered at Crown Point's historic Maplewood Cemetery on Tuesday to pay last respects to longtime resident and Realtor Ray B. Corning.
Corning, 73, who died Friday, is remembered by those who knew him for his passion for business, his love of family and church and his tireless devotion to the city he adopted as his second home.
"Ray was always a cut above the rest, definitely a class act.Honesty was his trademark and dedication to Crown Point was one of his finest attributes," said Center Township Assessor Marty Wheeler, who had worked as a real estate agent with Corning for several years.

Wheeler said Corning also can be credited with working with developers of Briarwood, Crown Point's first and one of the city's largest subdivisions.
