Assistant Chief Ken Corney Assistant Chief Ken Corney commands the Operations Division, which includes Patrol, Traffic, SWAT, Special Enforcement, Gangs, Training, and Youth programs.
Assistant Chief Corney began his career as a Patrol Officer in December 1986. He was promoted to Lieutenant in January 2000 and to Assistant Chief in December of 2003.
Assistant Chief Corney has served the Department as a Patrol Officer, Field-Training Officer, Gang Investigator, Crisis Team Negotiator, SWAT Team Leader, and supervisor of the Special Enforcement Team and Gang Violence Suppression Unit (SET/GVS).
His most recent assignment was commanding the Services Division. During his career, Assistant Chief Corney led the team that obtained almost five million dollars in state and federal grants to support innovative department programs, including School Resource Officer, Drug Suppression in the Schools, Gang Violence Suppression, Youth Intensive Intervention Program, and Youth Activities Program. He currently serves as president of the Ventura Police Activities League Foundation.
Assistant Chief Corney has a Master's Degree in Organizational Management from Azusa Pacific University and a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations/Journalism from California State University, Long Beach. -
