Laura Cornett, RPh KSHP Director
Laura Cornett is a 1990 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. She has 8 years of hospital pharmacy experience at Caritas Medical Center (formerly Saints Mary and Elizabeth Hospital) in Louisville, Kentucky. While at Caritas she performed various clinical, management and staff functions. She was heavily involved in evaluating and implementing automation technology and in efforts to improve pharmacy services at a patient level. In 1998, she left Caritas to work for Rite Aid, where she is a Pharmacy Manager. Retail pharmacy continues to allow her to pursue improved healthcare for her patients through education on their medications and disease states. Laura has been involved with KSHP as a member of the first House of Delegates, a two-year term on the Board of Directors, a two-year term as KSHP Secretary, and is now beginning another term on the Board of Directors. Laura was asked when she left Caritas if she was going to continue to be active with KSHP; her answer was definitely yes. KSHP is the Kentucky Society for Health-System Pharmacists and she feels that retail pharmacy is often the first and, if needed, the continuing contact a patient has with a "Health-System" Pharmacist. She is honored to have been elected to another term on the Board of Directors and plans to continue her activity in KSHP. KSHP has allowed Laura to stay involved with efforts to improve the profession of Pharmacy.
