This year, PBT's NBL coverage has almost doubled under new editor Ewan Corness (whose name pops up occasionally on NBL Talk), and there is NBL information every week, including results, statistical leaders, interviews, and even some opinion from our very own Andrew Milgate. (I get to hear Milgate's ramblings every week, but that's not the point.)
The end result is a magazine that I find much more interesting- not to mention relevant. It appears I'm the only one.
The past few weeks have seen PBT's letters section stuffed to the brim with readers demanding that the magazine cut back NBL coverage, and claiming that if they wanted NBL they'd take in the ‘saturation' coverage of the local media. (Saturation? WHERE?)
"The NBL is a very average league…"
...
Getting back to PBT, though, if you want NBL coverage to be maintained, why not write a polite e-mail to Corness at pbt@acp.com.au and voice your support?
WHO LET THE DOGS OUT?
A few people consider Townsville's horror weekend in week 5 as proof that the team is ‘soft', or isn't finals material. All I'll say is, it's a reality check- the same shock Adelaide received the Monday before, when they were totally outplayed by Wollongong, or the same shock Perth experienced against Sydney a fortnight back. For that matter, the same shock that the Kings got against Brisbane on Friday night.
If anything, all it proves is that you can't walk into any NBL venue and expect a win; injuries might be hampering a few of the league's high-flying teams, but there are no victories in this league you can take for granted.
