    ANGELA CORELIS
    ...
ANGELA CORELISCaught, usually observing the world through the lens of a camera or scribbling notes, the elusive but ever present, Angela Corelis is following her muse. Not only as a photographer but as a photojournalist.Corelis has honed her skills to observe and document the world around her, trying to capture that perfect expression, the exact essence of a moment, the nuiances of a sunset, the shy smile of a child, or the intensity of a grieving woman. After completing studies in Art and Art History at University of California at Berkeley, Corelis bluffed her way into the job of Staff Photographer Of the Art Department at Oregon State University. Here she had the opportunity to use her first "real" camera (not the Brownie her father sent her) so entranced with the world and process of photography Corelis was prompted to continue her education, obtaining a degree in photography. She was able to utilize her photographic and writing skills working for Oregon State University in Horticultural Research.Opportunities then opted for mountain climbing expeditions in the Andes, hitchhiking down the Amazon River and photographic studies in Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. As the result of an auto accident Corelis lost her memory for eight years and her photographic "eye" or vision for twenty. She healed and regained that vision while residing in Mexico with her Compadres and Goddaughter in San Blas and Tepic, Nayarit.Corelis began her love affair with Mexico, its people, colors, vibrance, smells and aliveness in 1959, traveling extensively. She has resided in Mexico full time since 1986, traveling, photographing and writing, from the depths of the Copper Canyon, to the heights of Orizaba, to Las Islas Marias Penal Colony to the Aztec and Mayan ruins.Corelis has contributed to, and been published in, various art journals and Horticultural Research Journals, LifeStyles of Puerto Vallarta, Sanbornís Travel Log, the Puerto Vallarta Yellow Pages and "The Dummy's Guide to Mexico."Over the years Corelis has lived in San Blas and Tepic, Nayarit, Guadalajara, Jalisco and Oaxaca, Oaxaca.Corelis currently resides in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. You can reach Angela at angelac@pvnet.com.mx
