Alex Corby

ALEX CORBYAlex, an exotic specimen native to Long Island, has been studied by leading scientists and has recently been categorized as a 'performer' breed of human, adapted primarily for juggling and acrobatic feats.He has surprised friends and family alike by not only attending Vassar College but also receiving a bachelor's degree in both Physics and Theater.

Alex began began his circus career as a lowly acrobat, and joined the Vassar College Barefoot Monkeys at the ripe age of 18.After four years of what some dare to call education with the Monkeys, he co-founded the Fire and Circus Arts troupe A Different Spin, and re-located to Oakland California in Fall 2006.Alex joined up with the Dreamtime Circus during the Spring 2007 Between Worlds show.Skilled in Fire performance, juggling, acrobatics, balloon twisting, magic, unicycling, stilting, and clown work, Alex hopes to confound the shackles thrust upon the live performer and restore honor to his art.

An avid traveler, Alex has performed in the U.S. Canada, Australia, El Salvador, the U.K, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, and India.He has no intention of stopping.

Alex originally comes from Long Island, NY and majored in Drama and Physics at Vassar College. Alex started out as a high school gymnast and joined the circus troupe at Vassar college as an acrobat, eventually learning the art of fire performance, juggling, and almost every other circus skill on the planet.

Alex has also devoted much of his life to performing. Along with acting in many different stage productions (Dario Fo, Cabaret, Chehkov, etc) Alex has street performed across New England as well as Europe and Australia. Alex has also been in several student films.

While performing with a Different Spin, Alex takes the lead with acrobatics as well as diabolo. His offbeat sense of humor tends to have the group laughing until they cry, or just have them crying at any rate.

With his good friend Alex Corby he tried his hand at street performing in New York City the summer before their senior year. The experience helped prepare Mooch to lead the Barefoot Monkeys his senior year and lend even more knowledge and support to the veterans and new members alike.

Alex is an incoming Junior at Vassar College where he is majoring in Drama as well as Physics.IN years past Alex had the pleasure of traveling with Windsor Mountain Student Travel programs including New England and European Traveling Theatre.Alex has studied for a summer in Oxford, England and recently performed in El Salvador.He is an active member in Vassar,s Barefoot monkeys group and as a result is learning unicycling, juggling, fire twirling and acrobatics.He claims that one day he shall wonder the earth on stilts and eat nothing but bananas.
