   The engineer, Steve Coover of Accutech Engineering Systems, said Gardener suffered a surficial failure, only about a foot deep. An overly steep slope combined with heavy rainfall and bad site drainage probably caused the slide, said Coover. He also noted that many local slides have another commonality.
