Lauren Cooper, Assistant Director of Public Relations
Lauren Cooper is in her first year as the Big South's Assistant Director of Public Relations after beginning her duties with the League office on January 1, 2004.
Cooper is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Big South's Public Relations program.She also serves as the League's primary contact for football, women's basketball, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field, while assisting with day-to-day duties in men's basketball.Cooper will also be responsible for helping to oversee and maintain the Conference's website, www.BigSouthSports.com.
Most recently, Cooper was on the media relations staff at the Raleigh site of the 2004 NCAA Men's Basketball tournament first and second rounds.
Cooper is no stranger to the Big South, serving as a student assistant in Elon's sports information office from October 2000 until her graduation in May 2002.
Cooper previously worked as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Longwood University.At Longwood, Cooper was responsible for assisting with daily operation of the sports information office with direct responsibility for the sports of women's basketball, field hockey, men's soccer, women's golf, women's lacrosse and softball.She also assisted in the administration of the institution's Internet athletics website, game operations and management activities, and with the supervision of the student assistants' staff.
Prior to working at Longwood, Cooper served as a media relations assistant at Wake Forest University from July 2002 to May 2003.While at Wake Forest, Cooper served as the primary contact for women's soccer, cross country, and track & field while being a secondary contact for men's and women's tennis.She also assisted in all aspects of media relations for football along with men's and women's basketball.Additionally, Cooper was an assistant editor for Wake Forest Football's Kickoff game-day program; maintained statistics for Demon Deacon football, men's and women's basketball, and women's soccer; and was a member of the statistics crew for the 2003 ACC men's basketball tournament.
A native of Southern Pines, N.C., Cooper now resides in Charlotte.
