Craig Cooper announces exploratory bid for CD2

But Cooper said he fully intends to run.The only thing that would change his mind is if the committee reported that his campaign would be bad for Idaho, he said.
"I feel I have a calling to do this," Cooper said.
Cooper, 35, is the Democratic chairman of Legislative District 33, which encompasses the city of Idaho Falls.

"Presently I'm focused on congressional issues at hand and I look forward to discussing Mr. Cooper's views as we get closer to the 2006 election."
But while Cooper is making plans for 2006, he's looking ahead to 2008 and 2010.

So Cooper said he doesn't plan on this being a one-time effort.If he falls short in 2006, Cooper said he plans to run again in 2008 and even 2010.
The goal, Cooper said, is for the eastern Idaho Democratic Party to at least be competitive in congressional and local races within five years.
"It's a tough, tough, tough fight," Cooper said.

Cooper said his goal is to raise $350,000 for the race.And he's setting his sights high despite voluntarily reducing the number of organizations that can donate to his campaign.
Cooper said he wouldn't accept money from political action committees.Also, he said the only out-of-state money he'd take would be from friends and family.
