Wilbur L. Cook, 89, of Vallejo died Sunday at Vallejo Care Center following a long illness.

Mr. Cook was born in Michigan and moved to California at age 6 months.He attended grammar school in Fellows and Taft, moved to Santa Barbara and attended Santa Barbara High School, graduating in 1934.He moved to Vallejo with his family in 1941 to work on Mare Island during WWII.He went on to work for Lakeside Dairy and finally opened Cookies Shoe Shop on Broadway in Vallejo, which he eventually moved to what is now Market Town at Tennessee and Tuolumne Streets.

Mr. Cook was a member of the Musicians Union and played drums in local dance bands.He formed his own combo called the Cookie Cutters.He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church and the past president of the Italian Catholic Federation.
