  Cook, a retired vice president of Arkansas Tech University, joins the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board.The board coordinates budgets and programs for all state-supported colleges and universities in the state, according to a press release.He will replace outgoing board member Dr. Anne Trussell, and will serve through May 2014.Cook has served both Arkansas and the city of Russellville for years, both as director of the Arkansas Department of Higher Education and a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives.According to a press release, he also served on the Chamber of Commerce board and the River Valley Arts Center Board, and currently serves on the boards of Friendship Care Inc. and the River Valley Shelter for Battered Women and Children.Cook and his wife, Millicent, reside in Russellville.
