"I had teachers, part of the year, who decided maybe teaching wasn't what they thought it was," says Principal Nora Cook.

Rogers has seven teaching jobs to fill, but no qualified applicants and lots of disappointed students.

"All I can say is when we get the French teacher in here, then we will try to make up for lost time," Cook says."And that's the only option I have right now."

And administrators say right now is a tough time to start looking for teachers.

Rogers High School Principal Nora Cook said compliance at her school has gone "really well."

"I have to remind students once in a while -- for shirts that are too short for girls or boys wearing their pants too low," Cook said.

But those common infractions violated the dress code Rogers had in place before the new districtwide standards.

The new code's restrictions on visible piercings have required some extra reminders, Cook said.

"Occasionally I still have to remind them about piercings," Cook said."They accept it -- I won't say they like it -- but they accept it."

This September, Principal Nora Cook announced the receipt of a check for $1000 from the Class of 1963 Reunion Committee.
