Central Queensland TAFE Disability Services Officer Janet Cook said up to 20 high school students would visit the Mackay Campus to listen to guest speakers, meet teachers and participate in interactive activities.
"The Tertiary Education Experience is an exciting opportunity for senior students with a disability to familiarise themselves with TAFE so they can better plan for life after school," Ms Cook said.
"Vocational education and training offers practical, industry relevant skills that can open up many exciting career opportunities and disability needn“t be a barrier to learning."
Ms Cook said $5000 in funding had been received from the Australian National Training Authority 'Equity Development and Training Innovation Program' to hold the Tertiary Education Experience.
"The day will give students looking to pursue tertiary studies an insight into the excellent range of options and support services on offer," she said.
