  The new band, through recent research and testing, has shown superior results when compared to the previous Lap-Band, according to one of the center's bariatric surgeons, Dr. Mark Colquitt."The new AP band should offer greater weight loss and less risk of complications," he said.With the Lap-Band procedure, an adjustable synthetic band is placed around the upper part of the stomach to create a small pouch which holds less food, making patients feel full faster and longer.
