   Tim has fought terrorism in more than one theatre, including both the IRA and Al-Qaeda.So he knows what he is talking about.
   
   I first met Tim many years ago.He is of course famous for "that speech", a copy of which hangs in the White House.Beyond that however he is a remarkable combination of toughness, intellect, and honourable concern for his men.

   Soldier, author, columnist, broadcaster and commentator, Tim Collins is best known for his leadership skills honed over a career lasting 22 years with the British Army including eight years as an officer in the elite Special Air Service.
   
   Tim came to public notice with his address to the troops on the eve of the invasion of Iraq, when, as commander of the 1,200 strong Royal Irish battlegroup, he urged his men to ‘liberate and not to conquer' adding that ‘we are entering Iraq to free a people and the only flags flown in that ancient land will be their own'.
   
   He has since left the Army and published his memoires of command in the form of the best selling ‘Rules of engagement'.
   
   Tim has authored and presented documentaries for Sky and the BBC.He is working on a number of other films.He regularly writes for the majority of The United Kingdom's national papers as well as occasional pieces for international periodicals including ‘Time'.
   
   Patron of the Trinity College Dublin Philosophical Society, he is a public speaker who has lectured at Oxford and Cambridge Universities as well as a debater and commentator who has travelled to lecture internationally including France, Canada, Australia and Singapore as well as addressing a meeting of the North Atlantic Association.
   
   Tim has also acted as an advisor and consultant to the UK's highly successful private military industry, advising on subjects such as security, and media relations as well as heading a $293 million dollar project to procure equipment, vehicles and weaponry for a United States Government project in Iraq.
   
   Tim has also acted as an advisor in committee in the Commons and the Lords to a number of UK political parties including the Conservative Party and the Ulster Unionist Party, delivering keynote speeches at both their party conferences on defence issues.
   
   Tim was educated at The Royal Belfast Academical Institution, Queen's University and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.A Graduate of the British Army Staff College, Tim holds a Masters Degree as well as a degree in Economics from Queen's University Belfast.Tim is an honorary member of Rutherford College at the University of Kent at Canterbury.
   
   During his career the Prince of Wales has commended Tim for his leadership skills and it is said that during the invasion of Iraq, the President of the United States kept a copy of his speech on the wall of the Oval office.
