   Head Trainer Terry Collins
   
   One of the most important areas of any athletics department is athletic training, and the University of Evansville is fortunate to have one of the best in Head Trainer Terry Collins.He directs the full-time and student athletic training staff in injury prevention, care of injuries, and rehabilitation.The UE training staff serves all 14 varsity sports.
   
   Collins is a former UE athlete himself.He was a pitcher for the Aces' baseball team, and returned to his alma mater in 1987 as head trainer after spending three years as head trainer at Butler County Community College in El Dorado, Kansas.In addition to caring for UE athletes, Collins is closely involved with the athletic training curriculum in UE's department of Human Kinetics & Sport Studies.A number of his former student trainers at UE are now certified athletic trainers throughout the country.
   
   "Our focus in the training room is on injury prevention," says Collins."Through pre-season physicals and knowing the history of previous injuries, along with proper techniques for conditioning, we can often prevent injuries from ever taking place.When injuries do occur, they are dealt with promptly.We have team doctors and physical therapists who provide their special skills when needed."
   
   Collins has a master's degree from Indiana State University.He and his wife, Gloria, have two sons-Ryan and Brett.

   Head Athletic Trainer Terry Collins (UE '82), in his 21st year at the University directs UE's Athletic Training program.Assisting Collins are two full time Assistant Athletic Trainers, Catherine Doremire and Troy Coppus, and one part-time Assistant Athletic Trainer Sue Laughbaum.
