The Jacksonville Medical Center Board of Directors recently accepted the recommendations of physicians, managers and board members, and voted unanimously to appoint Roger Collins to the position of chief executive officer of Jacksonville Medical Center. Collins, a native of Savannah, Ga., assumed his CEO responsibilities in October.
Collins comes to JMC from Claremore Regional Hospital where he served as CEO for the last four years. In Claremore, he established an outstanding record of creating satisfied physicians, staff and patients. His accomplishments there included increasing the active medical staff by 30 percent in four years though recruitment; improving physician satisfaction with the hospital and increasing the overall staff satisfaction scores to 95 percent positive.
Prior to Claremore, Collins served as CEO of the Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
Collins holds an M.B.A. from Georgia State University, a B.S. from Georgia Southern University and an L.M.B. from Atlanta Law School.
Collins, who moved to Jacksonville with his wife Judi, has also spent time as vice president of development for Touchstone Companies where he located hospitals for sale and pursued acquisitions as well as secured financing through investment bankers and provided investors for hospital purchases. Prior to that, he was the regional vice president for Humana, Inc.
"I am excited about relocating to Jacksonville," said Collins. "My wife and I look forward to becoming a part of the community. The commitment of the medical staff and the employees to healthcare for Jacksonville was most impressive.
"I look forward to becoming a part of Jacksonville Medical Center's team."
Since arriving in Jacksonville, Collins has jumped in with both feet running. He has begun making the rounds with a majority of the local civic organizations and church groups. He has held informal information sessions with members of Jacksonville's city government, as well as with many influential leaders and business men and women throughout the area.
"On behalf of the Board of Directors," said Wally Barthel, chairman of the JMC Board of Directors, "we appreciate the community's support in welcoming Roger and his family to our hospital."
