    Dr Rob Collins completed his undergraduate degree in Computing and Physics and his PhD within a department of Psychology. After teaching Software Engineering at degree and post-graduate level he returned to industry in 1989 as a consultant. For several years he specialised in Safety Critical Systems and work in Reliability, Maintainability and Failure analysis of complex systems. Since 1993 Rob has worked in main-stream Systems Engineering working, on many civil and commercial aircraft system programs, train systems, automobiles, weapons and communications systems. He has presented dozens of courses and seminars to attendees from organisations including IBM, BAE Systems, Lucas Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, Eurocontrol and the Royal Air Force on subjects including UML, Yourdon and Threads Analysis. He has trained several hundred people to use the DOORS requirements management tool and has taught the Safety Critical Systems Course at Oxford University for the last 6 years. Rob won an 81% approval rating for his one-day tutorial "A Fast Track to Systems Engineering" at the International INCOSE conference in 1999. He is currently the lead systems-engineering process engineer for Lockheed Martin Integrated Systems and Solutions in the UK.
