   Rick Collins, acquisitions manager for Bass Pro Shops, said the stores decorate with taxidermy to add "a regional touch" and use non-native animals so outdoorsman can "aspire to adventure."
   
   Talks "are very much in an exploratory stage right now," Collins said, but Bass is interested enough to either negotiate directly with Alice Sliger or through Brinton.

   For instance, even though the golden eagle in Sliger's collection was killed decades ago, long before it became a protected species, a federal permit would be required, Collins said.
