   At Herr-Voss Industries Inc., an engineering and manufacturing company in the metals industry, Mr. Collins rapidly created a strategic growth plan which, along with record earnings was instrumental in selling the company to a competitor for a huge premium for the owners.
   
   Mr. Collins was a Turnaround CEO at Bliss-Salem Inc., another engineering and manufacturing company in the metals industry; He doubled the revenues, set records for earnings, shareholder value, and customer services.
   
   In the aftermath of the Exxon Valdez oil spill disaster; Mr. Collins was asked to lead the Valdez Marine Terminal operational turnaround. In this capacity, he was recognized as a highly successful turnaround leader. At a most critical time, he skillfully led The United States, first ever, national, state and regional certification of an oil-spill response organization. Additionally he managed pump stations and pipeline operations for the northernmost sections for the Transalaska Pipeline System, a $30 million to $40 million per day operation. Mr. Collins was also a Senior Project Manager for the Transalaska Pipeline System, concurrently overseeing numerous multi-million dollar projects from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez, Alaska.
   
   Mr. Collins honed his crisis management and turnaround leadership skills while a military officer. In the military, he was assigned to lead troubled nuclear operations companies to quickly obtain the President's National Command Authority Certification standards.
   
   Mr. Collins is a retired Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves-Engineers. He obtained a B.S. in Engineering Management from Norwich University, and M.S. degrees in Arctic Engineering, and Civil Engineering from the University of Alaska.

   - RICHARD MORRIS COLLINS Richard Morris Collins was born July 29, 1913, on his father's ranch in Round Mountain to Walter Collins and Ella Hunnicutt Collins and passed away Aug. 28, 2003, at the age of 90.

   Richard has one brother, Ollie Collins of Blanco, one sister Hazel Rath of Kerrville and three deceased brothers, Walter, Warren and Boyd.

   Richard has two daughters, Yvonne Gower and husband Bob of Davenport, Washington, and Barbara Hampton and husband Steve of Dripping Springs, step-daughter, Vernell Moehle of Granite Shoals.

   Richard attended school in Round Mountain and Johnson City. He had quite a few stories to tell about growing up there on the river. He was a veteran from WWII. He loved to hunt and rock fish. At age 85, he caught his last big catfish on the Pedernales River in Johnson City, and the last deer he killed at age 88, in Llano. His last great poker game was in Las Vegas after his great granddaughter's graduation from the UNLV Las Vegas in June 2003. He talked of his various jobs: picking cotton, ranch work, picked fruit in California, a cook on the Alaskan Railroad, sold ice cream in San Antonio, painted water towers and bridges all over Texas and finally was an electrician for Brown and Root for 20 years.
