Mike began his study of the Toyota Production System in the late 70's.In 1983 he was hired as the Vice President and General Manager of Shizuki North America, an electrical components manufacturer, He held the responsibility of managing all operations in the U.S. and Mexico.

After leaving Shizuki, Mike lived and worked out of Singapore while employed with Worldtech.Worldtech provides business improvement consulting services to businesses throughout Southeast Asia.This experience broadened his understanding of the problems of business and of methods for solving complex business problems. Mike has been employed with the O.C. Tanner Company since 1997 where he has had the opportunity to apply the principles and practices of lean to a high volume - high mix environment.The O.C. Tanner Company ships 9000 orders per day (91% of the orders are for one unit only) from a product selection of over 3 million product configurations.In addition to his work at the O.C. Tanner Company, Mike has authored three classes on lean, which he teaches along with operations management in the MBA program at Westminster College.

The end customer is able to dispose of the starch insulation in several ways; either on their own compost heap, or simply into domestic waste as the starch sheet will dissolve in a matter of days once at landfill.Mr Collins concludes, "This is a tremendous development for Hydropac, we are incredibly excited to be able to offer such an environmentally friendly product into the fine food market place, and have had customers crying out for this type of development for several years."

The Ecoshipper follows the same format as the company's hugely successful Luxury Cuisine shippers that are manufactured from re-usable polyethylene foam and over time Hydropac will offer the same range of sizes.
