In Colorado Springs, security personnel made additional rounds Friday at Sand Creek High School after a parent, who is a Fort Carson soldier, made "aggressive" comments to a school resource officer, principal Mike Collins said.
The school was placed on lockdown Thursday, but school officials contacted Fort Carson, where military officials promised to speak with the parent, Collins said.
School officials have been discussing measures that would increase security at the school, Collins said, including adding more cameras and hiring more security staff members. They would have to present their ideas for budget approval, he said.
A student at Cherokee Trail High School in Aurora who joked about shooting students at nearby Smoky Hill High School was interviewed by police, but it was determined his threat was not serious, said Tustin Amole, spokeswoman for the Cherry Creek school district.
The boy's family was already moving and he did not return to school, Amole said.No arrests were made.
