Collins, owner and prescription compounding specialist at Healthway Pharmacy in St. Charles, Michigan, has been selected as the recipient of the APhA Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management (APhA-APPM) Distinguished Achievement Award in Specialized Pharmaceutical Services.

    Collins was selected for the award in recognition of his leadership in advancing the practice of pharmacy in a dedicated and consistent manner and in creating opportunities for pharmacists to impact the well being of patients.

    The award will be presented during the APhA 149th Annual Meeting and Exposition, March 15-19, 2002, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.APhA's Awards and Honors Program is American pharmacy's most comprehensive recognition program.

    This award, endowed by Purdue Pharma L.P., recognizes the achievements of an individual who has made a significant contribution or sustained contributions within the practice areas represented by the APhA-APPM Section on Specialized Pharmaceutical Services.

    Collins has developed an extensive hospice pharmacy practice serving the needs of several area hospice programs in Michigan.He has also opened a second compounding pharmacy in Saginaw featuring a state-of-the-art compounding lab.His practice features nutritional counseling and hormone replacement therapy.

    He is a guest lecturer at Ferris State University College of Pharmacy, where he has promoted pharmaceutical care and innovative pharmacy practice to students for many years.He is a frequent presenter at the International Compounding Pharmacist Seminars.Collins has served on the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists (IACP) Board of Directors and has been a Fellow in IACP since 1997.Collins is also a Fellow of the American College of Apothecaries (ACA).

    He received his BS in Pharmacy from Ferris State College of Pharmacy and is a past recipient of the Michigan Innovative Pharmacist Award.

McLeod in Saginaw Township.The deadline for the first shipment is Friday, September 23, 2005.If anyone is interested in helping with shipping expenses, please contact Michael.It is anticipated that medications will be needed for the next several months, so future shipments are planned if enough drugs can be collected.

    Mike is a Certified Menopause Educator and a Certified Anti-aging Specialist through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.

    The fellowship is open to physicians, physician assistants, nurse clinicians and pharmacists and will take 12 months to complete.Fellowship participants will leave the fellowship competent to practice Anti-Aging and Functional Medicine without supervision in his or her area of medical specialty.

    Anti-aging medicine is a clinical/medical specialty and field of scientific research aimed at the early detection, prevention, treatment, and reversal of age-related decline.
